Built in 1965 by Merrill and Beulah Griffin, the Surfside Motel of the day offered clean comfortable rooms and a dining room where Beulah prepared the “specials of the day”.  Located on 5 acres with a beach, the Motel was a wonderful spot to kick back and relax and spend a night or two in reasonably priced accommodations whether for work or pleasure.  Over the years, the property expanded to include an annex with 10 additional rooms, and eventually three housekeeping cottages and a basement apartment became part of the complex.

In 2001, under new ownership, the Motel updated their accommodations to include Cable TV, microwave ovens, small fridges, WiFi in all units and propane BBQ’s for guest’s use.  The housekeeping cottages are fully equipped with modern stoves, fridges, dishes, pot, pans, etc., everything necessary for a couple of nights or a week or longer stay.

Our accommodations include rooms with one double bed, twin beds, two double beds, and a suite with a queen-sized bed and sofa bed.  Two of the housekeeping cottages have one bedroom—one with two doubles, the other with two queen beds.  The third cottage has two bedrooms—one with a double bed, the other with twin beds.  All of the housekeeping cottages have a double sofa bed as well.

The beach is just a short walk away and beach fires are encouraged.  Bundled wood for beach fires is available at the Motel as well.  Family reunions are an annual event at the Motel with huge picnics, lawn bowling, games of catch, fireworks, musical jams and other fun events taking place on the huge back “forty”!
